There is no indication that "Republicans" are taking a hit by not passing the bill. In fact, if you go to Congress.org you will polls there showing that Americans prefer no bill instead of "a bad bill". By bad bill they mean, the amnesty one, CIR.
Folks, what we need to remember is that this country is still a democracy. When you see AILA - which is a reliable source in this case - reporting that 400:1 calls are being placed against CIR, that is a serious business. Looking at results of recent elections, you can tell that there is increasing indication that voters are paying attention to candidates which are strong in immigration records. Sen. Bilbray (R) recently won the election in spite of Republicans poor performance. In my state, Maria Cantwell (D) is showing no gaps against an incumbent, who happens to be Republican. In Utah, Sen. Cannon (R) but pro CIR is fighting very hard against an incumbent. Election results for this will be known tomorrow, but the fact that he is fighting is the indication one needs to believe that representatives fighting against CIR/amnesty are looking good, regardless which party the individual is in. CIR is known mainly is an amnesty bill. Therefore not passing CIR seems to be perceived by voters as a good thing. Also, there are already many laws that if executed, could aleviate the flow of illegal immigration and provide some security to the border until the House gathers enough support to pass a more enforcement only bill. Personally I have hopes that IF the House proposals prevail after the elections in November, then it is when we could see a kind of Cornyn/Kyl bill passed ?

If we continue this route of expecting that a bill with amnesty provisions on it will save us, you many need to be prepared for a long wait to see that happening. If it is true that our lobbying efforts are useless and have no chances to leverage a bill of our own cause, so darn, I will just pray, watch, give no donations and wait in a very passive way and see what happens.
IV has done a great job by making all the contact information with the lobbying group, now we need to engage them to lobby for our bill only. If that's not possible, then I think there is no major reason to donate or take action on this anymore. Just wait and let the big guys (AILA, Catholic Curch, Laraza) battle for CIR and see what happens.

This is not correct from legal point of view. I would put this statement as
-- Must have valid work authorization. Sponsorship for any work visa is not offered.
Employer can not ask for kind of authorization. It could be, EAD, OPT, GC etc. As long as applicant is qualified as per I-9 form, kind of authorization should not matter.
Of course, H-1B applicant can not apply for this job position since visa sponsorship is not available.

Hi all,
My wife and I just got receipts for our I-485, I-140, AP and EAD. The "received date" is July 7 and the "Notice Date" is September 13. I also confirmed that the checks were cashed.
I remember my attorney saying that the applications were filed at NSC but somehow my receipts came from VSC. And this morning I receive an update that my I-485 has been transferred to TSC! Here is the detail:
"On September 20, 2007, we transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER
PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our TEXAS SERVICE CENTER location for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case. We sent you a notice of this transfer".

I am July 2nd filer from last year. I did receive a FP notice in Oct 2007 but couldn't go for it. I sent a letter asking for another date but TSC..So go figure!...

Has anyone with approval from 08/01 received welcome letter or card? My husband's I485 was approved on 08/04 but no letter or card yet. Also, mine and my son's cases are still pending, opened SR and will take infopass next week.

I think IV should make it mandatory for $25/monthly charge for all the folks.
At least we can get rid of the dual-nature of 'helping you, only a little bit' sort of tendency.
However, there should total transparency once people pay. I see some guys are frustrated for lack of information despite them being donors.

Hello all,
My I-485 and EAD applications were delivered on July 18th at the TSC. Since then, I have not heard from USCIS until this evening, when to my delight, I received the EAD card in my mailbox!
May I know if the EAD receipt # is the same as the I-485 receipt number? I tried to check my case status online with the receipt # on my EAD card but the only information I could see was for Form I-765. Could somebody please clarify this?
My attorney isn't the most helpful person and she has been silent ever since I filed the I-485 & EAD. Also, she issued her own firm's checks to USCIS for the filing of these documents so I don't know if the checks were cashed (and therefore, cannot check for the receipt notice on the back of the check). I intend to call her t'row.

Important thing that needs to be changed from USCIS side is for EB GC applicants who get their 140 approval and waiting to file 485 from certain time period like two yrs or more USCIS should allow them to file for 485 irrespective of the current rule 'PD has to be current to file for AOS'.
Otherwise it's a clear loop whole in the EB process..People can't wait that much long to file for AOS for changing business trends or in this economic downturn (which force them to change of job).. DOL and USCIS should examine and punish each applicant of substituted labor (who got their GC in 2 to 3 yrs time period through desi body shopping companies).
Sufferers of the existing system are EB2-I,EB2-C, EB3-C and EB3-I GC folks (Indian and chinese applicants). Existing system neglects EB3 folks.. it's gonna take 10yrs for them to wait and apply for 485 as per Today's date. :mad::mad::mad:

It's very frustrating.. TSC is sitting on our application or what? Approx 30K applications are there for July 2nd filer including NSC->TSC transfer(per old NYT report). We see reporting of 1 or 2 receipting a day then few quite days. :mad:
It will approx 60 days since filing and still waiting for check encash/Receipt. What a heck.. :mad:
I have only seen just one or two cases so far with receipts I mean filed on Jul 2. I myself am a Jul 2 filer NSC filer with TSC approved 140 and haven't gotten anything yet....I also had the LUd on 7/28/07.

I may sound some what negative here but I am not trying to diminish the IV plat form for all the folks here.Yes, it is just "about us" only... what "IV core" did so far is vague....flower campaign and this current FOIA requests started randomly by the individuals thinking collectively.... I don't think it is started by IV core team as an "ACTION" item in the first place.
